EDMONTON (April 6, 2021) – 104.9 VIRGIN RADIO Edmonton revealed today that the station is behind the mysterious Edmowood sign that has been popping up at various locations around Edmonton. Inspired by the famous Hollywood sign, the campaign has the city buzzing as it highlights the amazing locations across the Alberta Capital Region, including scenic viewpoints, walking trails, parks, and more.
“We live in a beautiful city and with the pandemic affecting people’s ability to socialize and interact, we felt this would be a great way to show off the pride we have in Edmonton,” said Ty Jordan, 104.9 VIRGIN RADIO Afternoon Drive Host, who devised the idea for the sign after it came to him in a dream. “The past year has been extremely difficult for everyone, and we wanted to provide a brief escape by creating something that would make a positive impact on the mental health of Edmontonians.”
The sign first appeared mysteriously on the Walterdale Hill on Monday, March 29. Since then, it has appeared at Betty Stanhope-Cole Park, Victoria Park, Hawrelak Park, and the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Listeners can tune in to 104.9 VIRGIN RADIO to find out where and when the sign will turn up next, as the station reveals upcoming sign locations.
To help showcase the sign, the city, and the Edmonton community as a whole, 104.9 VIRGIN RADIO is offering listeners a chance to win $1,000. To enter, listeners must share a picture of themselves with the sign, including the hashtag #edmowood. For more information, visit the station’s website.
104.9 VIRGIN RADIO Edmonton is available across Canada via live stream on the iHeartRadio Canada app and iHeartRadio.ca. The network is also connected through Alexa, Siri, and Google Home smart speakers.
