REGINA (December 31, 2022) – CTV News Regina announced tonight during CTV NEWS AT SIX that Aura Lee MacPherson is the recipient of the 2022 Regina Citizen of the Year Award.
“Aura Lee cares deeply about our community and its resources,” said Jeff Bollenbach, General Manager, Manitoba/Saskatchewan, Radio and Television, Bell Media. “Her exemplary commitment is evident through the efforts of her engineering business to improve air quality, as well as her volunteer work with Calling Lakes Ecomuseum, which works to protect water quality and quantity in the Qu’Appelle River system.”
MacPherson was born and raised in Regina. She is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Along with her husband, Murdoch MacPherson, she co-founded MacPherson Engineering, which created the Blanket of Warmth Project to address the issue of air quality in houses across Star Blanket Cree Nation. MacPherson was also the Chair of the Calling Lakes Ecomuseum, a grassroots organization that focuses on water sustainability.
The Regina Citizen of the Year Award presented by CTV is an annual tradition now in its 20th year. Each November, CTV Regina accepts nominations from viewers for the Regina Citizen of the Year Award and presents the award at the end of December to an individual who exemplifies excellence in community service.
