REGINA (December 31, 2015) – CTV News Regina announced today that Mrs. Dionne Warner has been named the 2015 Regina Citizen of the Year. Revealed today on CTV NEWS AT SIX by David Fisher, Vice-President and General Manager of CTV Saskatchewan, Warner will receive the award at a reception in early 2016.
“Over the past two decades, Mrs. Warner has exemplified great personal courage and extensive community service,” said Fisher. “Most notably, she has been a source of inspiration and support to cancer survivors throughout their journeys, making a positive difference in so many lives.”
As an eight-time cancer survivor, Mrs. Warner’s personal struggle served to only sharpen her commitment to community service. In addition to numerous charitable and fundraising initiatives, she has been twice-named a Regina Relay for Life champion, a YWCA Women of Distinction award winner. In 2011, the American Cancer Society recognized her as one of their International Heroes of Hope Ambassadors.
The Regina Citizen of the Year Award presented by CTV is an annual tradition now in its twelfth year. Each November, CTV accepts nominations from viewers for the Regina Citizen of the Year Award, and presents the award to an individual who exemplifies excellence in community service at the end of December.
