TORONTO (April 23, 2015) – Dream jobs or nightmare gigs? DAILY PLANET – recent winner at the WorldFest International Film & Video Festival and New York Festivals – rounds up the world’s most outlandish professions during its first “Insane Jobs Week”, airing Monday, May 4 – Friday, May 8 at 7 p.m. ET on Discovery. Co-hosts Ziya Tong and Dan Riskin scour the globe in search of the strangest and most extreme jobs out there. DAILY PLANET invites viewers on the ride-along of a lifetime as they explore some incredible professions and meet people who do them, including: a snowmobile crash tester; a barber who shaves moustaches off of venomous spiders; and a person whose office is New York City’s sewer system.

Highlights from DAILY PLANET’s “Insane Jobs Week” include:
The French Spiderman
Daredevil free-climber Alain Robert has made a living scaling the world’s highest buildings without a harness – despite suffering from vertigo. DAILY PLANET follows the man who calls himself “The French Spiderman” on his latest mission-with-a-twist: Dubai’s uniquely shaped 90-storey Cayan Tower.
Ebola Plane
It’s the only private jet in the world you do not want to be on, and they’re the medical team you do not want to see… unless you’ve contracted Ebola. Phoenix Air has developed the world’s only aircraft designed to safely transport patients with highly contagious deadly diseases. In the last year, they’ve flown over 40 patients on Ebola-related flights from West Africa for medical treatment – most of them healthcare workers. The team of doctors are always on call, ready to deploy within 12 hours to save a life. But how are the team and the the patient packed into a pressurized aluminum tube for 12 hours without infecting everyone in the process?
Golf Ball Divers
Hearing “ker-plunk” after a golf swing is one of the worst sounds a golfer can hear. For Craig Stewart though, it means he’s strapping on an air tank and likely fighting off some critters. He makes a living diving for the white gold, processing it, and reselling it – all from his shop in Virginia.
Extreme Racing
From horsepower to “feather power”, these professional jockeys are ditching the saddles and hopping onto the back of ostriches. Moving from a ride with four legs to two, this really is a balancing act and a race viewers won’t want to miss.
