KEY STORYLINE: Harjit Sajjan, Canada's new Minister of National Defence, is a decorated combat veteran taking on a dangerous world. W5’s Kevin Newman delivers BATTLE TESTED, an up-close profile and one-on-one conversation with Sajjan, who was recently sworn into Prime Minister Trudeau’s cabinet as Defence Minister. In the interview, Sajjan reflects on his battlefield experiences and his work combatting gangs as a former police officer on the streets of Vancouver.

Also this week, W5 delivers NEVER GIVE UP, the inspiring story of Joe Johnson, a young athlete pushing all boundaries to excel as a provincial cross-fit competitor – while living with a medical condition that should make it impossible for him to compete at all.

Rounding out the evening, W5’s REACH FOR THE TOP examines the classic academic quiz competition between Canadian high school students that continues with a new generation.
